Welcome To Double D Kennels

We’re changing our site around a bit.

Please excuse us during this time

About Us

Thank you for visiting. We hope you enjoy the visit. If your ever in North Alabama give us a call and visit us for real. We love talking about and showing off our dogs. We breed only long hair miniature dachshunds.

When I say we I really mean me. My husband is supportive but doesn’t share my passion. He loves all our animals. But the doxies are my thing. He just comes along for the ride (and thankfully foot the bill to get me started!) My son helps me A LOT. If you ask him he’ll tell you he’s a slave. (he’s 15)

Our family consists of 2 happily married parents, one son, a 14 yr mix breed we rescued from the pound  the day before she would have been put down (her name is Lucky), 2 cats, and of course my doxies.

I also design jewelry. That’s how they all got their names.

(look at their pages for details, coming soon)

Animals have always been a part of my life. So it comes as no surprise to anyone who knows me well that we have a zoo. I hope to some day have more land and increase the size of our menagerie.  Of course my hubby may have something to say about that.

We call ourselves a kennel but really we’re just a family.

All of our dogs live with us in the house. Our pups are born inside and with me right there. They will come to you happy, healthy and pre-spoiled.

We showed two of our dogs this past year. It was a humbling experience at first but we survived. Later this year we’ll be able to show dogs we have bred ourselves.  Most of my puppies will have show potential.

I have been very fortunate to have met breeders who were willing to help teach me.

Scott Ginn: I have never bought a dog from him, but when I was starting out he talked to me on the phone for over an hour. I learned a lot in that call and I’ll never forget him because of it.

Sherry : I went looking for a blk & tan male, instead I got 2 creams and a lifelong friend.  Many phone calls, day trips, and tears have been shed between us in the short time we’ve known each other and I treasure them all. A wealth of knowledge that I have tapped many times.

Kathi: She always makes me laugh and she gives it to me straight.  My go to person for genetics.

Tina: Thanks for the tips about showing.

Pam: My friend of many years, long before our Dachshund addiction took hold. Too many lunches, gallons of Tea and tears to count. We have been known to sit at our local restaurant and talk about dogs from lunch until dinner time. You are my best friend and I love you.

To all the breeders who were kind enough to let me buy their puppies or dogs: Thank you all. I love each and everyone of my babies, (okay some more than others).

According to my friend Sherry I have a good eye for dogs. I tried very hard to make good decisions. I hope you like the ones I’ve made. They will produce your lifelong friends.
